The Marlin Bulldogs football team went on the road to face the Groesbeck Goats on Sept. 9. They were defeated in a close battle 16-7.
The Goats started the scoring in the first quarter with a 7-yard touchdown run for a 7-0 lead. Marlin tied it up at 7 with a 26-yard touchdown run by Ty’Raun Bell, and that would be all the scoring for the first half.
The second half was a defensive battle, but the Goats came through with a safety in the third quarter and a 35-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to seal the 16-7 win.
With the loss the Bulldogs move to 0-3 on the season. The are off this week and will begin district play against the Bosqueville Bulldogs on Friday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Bosqueville.
