Introducing David Reid, New Rotary Club in Marlin
There are several milestones that are life-altering. We go through life so focused on career and family, but at some point we realize that we must give back to society, to our community. We, at Rotary Club in Marlin, believe that joining Rotary is one of those life-altering moments.
David Reid was inducted into the Rotary Club in Marlin on Feb. 8, 2023, at a ceremony by District 5870 Governor Shannon Coleman.
Special guest was Assistant District Governor Richard Schneider. Rotary Club in Marlin welcomes David Reid into its Rotary Wheel - which faces inward for friendship and fellowship and outward in service to our community and to the world.
David Reid was born and raised in Virginia and attended school there. He and wife Michelle Rae have four adult children: Aaron, Katie, Emily, and Rachel. David and Michelle Rae come to us from Chandler, Ariz., where they resided for twelve years.
David joined the United States Air Force, was a member of the USAF Military Police Corp, and retired as an E-6 Staff Sargent. David Reid graduated from Montana State University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He worked with Trane (a subsidiary of Trane Industries). Following, he was Sales Manager of Owner Direct Operations at Johnson Controls.
David Reid’s hobby is photography. His passion for it is exhibited in his use of new gear, new techniques, exciting shoots, and financial success.
Why Marlin? David and Michelle Rae Reid are owners of Museum Pros, creators of museums. “From a business perspective, Marlin is centrally located in a north-south corridor of over 200+ museums.” David focuses on small museums to include products such as curiosity cubes, flat “B” trifolds, and exhibit columns. David Reid’s plans are to affect a positive reflection of the people, to help those who support the arts, and to add his support to the community as a volunteer.
Rotarians serve our community. If something needs to get done, Rotarians find a way. And they have fun doing it. Marlin has seen its Rotary Club’s contributions of academic and vocational scholarships, blankets for warmth, Food for Families, Rise Against Hunger campaign and event, Fight against Human Trafficking, and more.
Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life for people in our community and to serve the public interest.
International Service exemplifies our global reach in promoting peace and understanding. We support this service avenue by sponsoring or volunteering on international projects, seeking partners abroad, and more.
Good Rotarians must constantly keep before them the primary object of Rotary. “Service Above Self” is our motto, and Rotary expects each member to live up to this ideal.
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society; THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life; FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
As a Rotarian, one lives by the 4-Way Test. 1. Is it the truth? 2. Is it fair to all concerned? 3. Will it build goodwill and better friendship? 4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned? Living by these standards, the community can know and judge Rotary through example in character and service.
In becoming a Rotarian, David endeavors to practice the principles of goodwill and service, networking with business leaders from our community who are motivated by a desire to improve the lives of others. Welcome, David Reid.
