Juneteenth Celebrated

A Gospel Explosion kicked off the Juneteenth celebrations at the BTW Alumni building Sunday, June 18. Sponsored by the Marlin Texas Juneteenth Organization, the opened mic concept delivered a gospel fest of talents through songs and praise dancing. Two years after officially becoming a federal holiday, Juneteenth, known as Freedom Day, honors the historic day acknowledging the end of slavery in Texas as June 19, 1865. The Annual Juneteenth Parade and Program were also held on Monday, June 19.
