Marlin students participate in Baccalaureate Service

In recognizing the graduating Class of 2025, Baccalaureate Service was held at the South Union Baptist Church, Rev. Norris Jackson, Pastor, Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. An estimated 25 of the graduating class participated in the event. The Baccalaureate ceremony is usually held a few days prior to graduation. It offers a smaller, more intimate opportunity for the graduating class and their families to pause, reflect on this rite of passage, and celebrate the graduates’ achievements and perseverance.

Former faculty member Angetta Lynn and Dr. Sharon DeLoach facilitated the event. Opening scripture and prayer were offered by Chasidee Washington and Tyraun Bell. On behalf of the Class of 2025, Aaryha Johnson welcomed the parents, family and friends who shared the non-denominational memorable occasion. Musical selections were presented by Jazzmine Thomas.

The keynote speaker was Rev. Norris Jackson, Pastor of the edifice. Using Prov. 3:5 as the basis of his presentation, Pastor Jackson encouraged the graduates to trust in God and four takeaways: 1) Face their fears and never give up, 2) Learn how to forget failures and 3) Follow their faith. Dr. DeLoach thanked everyone for attending. The event closed with a prayer of gratefulness and thanksgiving. Picture sessions and refreshments followed.
