Marlin ISD TEA Rating Explained

I am pleased to share the results of our 2024 and 2025 TEA Accountability Ratings. This is a moment of immense pride for our district; the hard work of our students, faculty, and staff has paid off in a remarkable way.

Campus Results

Our campuses have demonstrated overall continuous improvement, especially given the significant challenges we have faced, including missing approximately three weeks of instruction due to the city’s water outage. The instructional and leadership strategies we implemented improved student achievement, both in our raw academic performance and in the state’s rating calculations.

Marlin Elementary School: In 2023, the campus received an overall accountability rating of 60 (D). Through a focused effort, the rating improved to 72 (C) in 2024 and has now reached 75 (C) in 2025. This is an incredible 15point increase in just two years, reflecting a dedicated commitment to academic progress.

Marlin High School: The high school has also shown upward momentum. After receiving a rating of 79 (C) in both 2023 and 2024, the school has now achieved an 80 (B) in 2025! This milestone is further celebrated by the earning of two distinctions: Academic Achievement in Social Studies and Postsecondary Readiness!

District Results

Marlin ISD’s overall accountability rating also reflects this positive trend.

Marlin ISD: The district has raised its district-wide rating from a 66 (D) in 2023 to a 73 (C) in 2024. We have successfully maintained this 73 (C) rating in 2025.

This growth is particularly significant following the 2023 STAAR redesign. Our schools have not only adapted but have shown consistent improvement across the board.

While we’ve maintained our 73 (C) rating in both 2024 and 2025, our latest scores show significant progress in other key areas. We’ve seen improvement in our Academic Growth, Relative Performance, and Closing the Gaps ratings. This proves our students are moving forward and that we are successfully addressing academic challenges, little by little, and in a positive direction.

Most encouraging is our Relative Performance compared to districts with similar socioeconomic percentages. Despite Marlin ISD facing more significant current and historical challenges, our staff and instructional models are effectively serving our students.

The hard work and dedication of everyone in our district are making a difference in the lives of our students. We have much to celebrate, and I am excited about the continued progress of Marlin ISD.
