Marlin ISD Awards Student & Teacher of the Month Awards, Facility Updates, and Financial Reports
A regular meeting of Marlin ISD was held Monday, September 15 at 6 pm. at the Marlin ISD Boardroom, Byrleen Terry presiding. Board of Managers present were Kathleen Barrett, Rosalyn Dimerson, Misty Ehlers, Winnette Outland, Marsha Ridlehuber and Norman Jones, Acting Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Rolando Trevino, TEA School Conservator, was present.
Lone Star Governance Student of the Month was awarded to 3rd grader Rayden Guillory and Teacher of the Month Jazzmine Thomas.
Superintendent’s Reports began with the high school renovation and Legion Field updates presented by J. Adam LeJeune, Director of Technology. He noted the security gates are near completion at the school and the AV system at Legion Field is functional but not the scoreboard camera and elevator. Tamika Washington, Director of Academics, noted the start of the year instructional and school leadership updates. School culture including student improvement and staff celebrations were focused. Tynette Guinn, Director of School Leadership & Campus Support, report focused on elevating leadership and school framework.
Region 12 Education Service Center representative Sarah Doyle, reviewed the district’s August ‘25 financial reports including food service, general fund ($1.2 million in August ), interest in sinking, construction and investment reports. Worker’s Compensation reflected a saving of $8,948.81.
Purchases approved re: Bond 2025 were $29,824 scissor lifter and electronic locks for 4-high school campus doors ($34k). Other approved purchases were (1) replacement of five carts @30 devices of Chromebook-June 2026, (2) CTWG vendor selected for toners, (3) Utility bills: Atmos Energy, City of Marlin water, ATT.
Additional approved agenda items included $130k for Education Service Center Region 12 contract to cover Director of FCTR and program, a resolution regarding SB 12 and Parental Rights changes to DEI effective Sept. 1, resolution authorizing Indebted and security and resolution certifying the District is in compliance with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) provisions.
Misty Ehlers moved to approve August 17, 2025 minutes, second by Marsha Ridlehuber, motion carried. The Board of Managers went into closed session (a) Pursuant to Texas Government Code Section 551.071, consultation with district’s attorney regarding deliberation on current litigation, (b) Pursuant code 551.074, deliberation of personnel matters to include discussion on Conservator and Acting Superintendent duties and responsibilities and the discussion of candidates and/or naming the Lone Finalist for Superintendent of Schools. After the Board returned from closed session, the meeting was adjorned.
