Central Texas Area Alliance of Black School Educators to Host Free 2025 Parent Conference
The Central Texas Area Alliance of Black School Educators (CENTEX AABSE) will host its 2025 Parent Conference on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Killeen Activities Center, 801 N 4th St B, Killeen, Texas.
This free community event is designed to connect, inform, and empower families across Central Texas. Participants will enjoy free breakfast and lunch, engaging breakout sessions, and a dynamic parent panel discussion focused on supporting student success in today’s fast-changing educational landscape.
Conference organizers Nicola Myers Gardere and Kayren Gray, both educators and Executive Board members of CENTEX AABSE, emphasize the importance of uniting families and schools to positively impact student achievement.
“We believe in the power of connecting with our families and the impact this conference will have on our students across Central Texas,” said Myers Gardere and Gray. “It was important for us to ensure our presenters share information that will move our community forward.”
Conference Highlights
Featured sessions include: Additional special programs will highlight ESL, Special Education, and Advanced Academics, presented by Dynamic Educators from across Central Texas.
The conference will also
feature a Parent Panel with Aya Eneli, Victor Hall, Dr. Kevin Lanxon, and Dawn Richardson, offering inspiring perspectives and practical strategies for parenting 21st-century learners.
“When we focus only on what children do wrong, we miss the opportunity to see their potential,” said Nicola Gardere, who will present on Externalizing Behavior and Asset-Based Thinking.
“This conference invites families to reframe how we see our children—not as problems to fix, but as possibilities to nurture. That shift in mindset is where real transformation begins.”
