Local Church Youth Recognize Dr. M. L. King Jr.
The birthday of the late Dr. M. L. King Jr. was recognized at the Marlin Missionary First Baptist Church, Sunday, January 18, 2026, during the morning worship. The church is under the leadership of Pastor Vincent Hartsfield.
As tributes, excerpts from selected speeches of Dr. King were presented by the youth pictured: “Who is Martin Luther King Jr?” Ma’Ryan Santee, “I Have a Dream”-Caden Battise, “Beyond Vietnam”-Tyson Jones, “The Other America”- Dameyon McGee Jr., “What is Your Life’s Blueprint?”-Jordan McGee. Born January 15, 1929, Dr. King’s birthday is recognized as a federal holiday on the third Monday in January. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, was the spokesperson for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement, which protested racial discrimination in federal and state law and civil society. He was assassinated in 1968. In 1983, President Reagan signed the holiday into law.
