James “Roy” Jones Announces

My name is James “Roy” Jackson and I am running for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2 in Falls County. So, I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about my background, experience and why I know I will be the most qualified candidate to serve Precinct 2 as your Justice of Peace.

I was born and raised in Falls County and lived in Lott. My family has a long history of serving Falls County. My father, Roy Jackson, who we lost due to a fall a little over a year ago, served on the Marlin Police Dept throughout 1967 to 1983. He worked for the City of Lott and eventually retired from the Falls County Road and Bridge Department, the same department my brother Jeff Jackson is now the Administrator of. My mother Mary Jackson, spent several years in the County Tax Office before being recruited to the County Auditors Office where she retired from. While my wonderful sister in law, Lori Jackson, has not worked for Falls County proper, she has spent the last 23 years serving Marlin and Falls County as Vice President and Branch Manager with Cadence Bank.

Shortly before my 19th birthday, I moved to Houston to pursue my education and start a career in Banking. Shortly after moving to Houston, I was offered a position with a National Property Management Company. I immediately jumped on the opportunity, changed my major, and began what would be a 30 plus year career in Real Estate and Property Management. I started as an Onsite Assistant Manager and quickly rose through the ranks to become a National Training Director, training other Property Management Professionals throughout Texas and the US. Eventually, I was promoted to Executive Vice President of Operations and finally President of my own Real Estate and Property Management Company, managing properties throughout Texas and Alabama. In 2011 I was appointed as a Receiver for the City of Dallas where I was tasked with overseeing the management, rehabilitation, and disposition of distressed commercial and multi family properties throughout the DFW area. One role of the Receiver was to improve community standards and reduce criminal activity on the properties and the surrounding areas.

In 2007 I tragically lost my son Brandt to suicide. This is something no parent should experience. After my son’s death, and spending some time with Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas, I made the decision to return to college, and become a Crisis and Grief Counselor for the Center while also serving on the board of directors. I knew I had to do something to assist other families who suffered a loss to suicide and assist with suicide prevention and awareness While working with the crisis center I had to the opportunity to work closely with the Mesquite, Garland and Dallas Police Departments and was instrumental in changing the death notification procedures for the Garland and Mesquite Police Departments in addition to training police officers on how to talk to and offer resources to family members who just lost a loved one to suicide.

I know and understand there is a lot more to being a Justice of the Peace than dealing with evictions, property disputes and in the unfortunate event, being available when there is a death and being on the scene of the death. However, I know my years of experience handling various civil matters, evictions, crisis management situations, grief counseling, and working with various Police Departments and personnel will certainly be an advantage to great folks of Precinct 2, On March 3rd., I would be honored if you chose me to be your next Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2 and to allow me to continue with my family’s long running tradition of serving Falls County.
