Marlin T.H.S. Drumline Brings Home Championship Belt Second Year in a Row
The Marlin Sounds of Thunder Drumline (AKA Thunder House Squad - T.H.S) successfully defended their title as Champions at the King of the Ring Drum Competition in Houston on Saturday, March 21.
Marlin Band Director Professor Kevin Smith was proud to shine a spotlight on the dynamic group of talented students (grades 7-12) who have worked tirelessly toward this level of success.
“When it comes to the competition, T.H.S. truly stole the show! Their remarkable teamwork and skill were on full display, and it was clear that all those countless hours of practice paid off,” Smith said. “They not only honed their technique but also built an unbreakable bond that elevated their performance to new heights. The energy and precision they brought to the stage captivated everyone in the audience!”
He also gave a shout out to Assistant Director/Drum Instructor DeAundre James and himself, noting their unwavering dedication and guidance have been instrumental in shaping the students’ success.
“T.H.S.’s performance was a true testament to their hard work and passion for music,” Smith said. “They not only played beautifully but also lifted each other up, creating an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.”
Smith noted that they strive daily to make the Marlin community proud, and this Championship Belt is certainly an accomplishment to celebrate. Congrats, Thunder House Squad!
