Amalia was born on June 10, 1944, to Pedro Villegas and Inocencia Herrera, and raised in Couhuila Mexico. Although Amalia attended very little school she was a very skilled self-taught woman who was extremely hardworking. Amalia came to the United States when she was 23 years old, she met and married her husband, Rito Deleon on Feb. 29, 1967. They worked and established themselves in Dallas Tx for many years. Along with Rito, Amalia worked helping him in his gardening work where she learned to be a skilled gardener. As many know she had a great green thumb and had beautiful plants and flowers that flourished under her loving care.

Upon Rito retiring they moved and made their home in Rosebud. Rito and Amalia didn’t let retirement keep them from serving their community. They opened a restaurant named “Alva’s Cafe “and became well known for their delicious and quality food, even years later the restaurant is still remembered with fondness.

Rito and Amalia were well known for their hospitality offering their home as lodging to workers, strangers and friends and family alike.  For those who knew Amalia she was exceptionally tender and affectionate, you could not say hello to her without receiving a tight hug and kiss. Even the doctors that visited her in her home were treated as close friends. Amalia made everyone smile and laugh. Amalia had the beautiful talent of singing and dancing, she enjoyed time with family and friends sharing moments of laughter. Amalia was extremely generous and kind hearted to those who were especially close to her.

Amalia was baptized in the summer of 2007, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Amalia served faithfully in the Villahermosa congregation and found her purpose and joy in sharing her faith with others.  During periods of great health crises she maintained a positive outlook and didn’t give up, she was modest and humble and accepted help. During one of her health crises she developed a special closeness with Jose Ariel and Anel Vargas and Felicita and their family and became a special member in their home, where she was nurtured. Her greatest hope was in the resurrection of our dear loved ones sleeping in death. She never lost sight of her faith in all the challenges she faced and even to death she remain loyal. Amalia will be greatly missed by all whose life she touched.
