Amber R. Simpson

She married the love of her life, Don Simpson, on Feb. 5, 1947.

Mrs. Amber R. Simpson, 96, of Marlin, was residing in Nacogdoches, when she passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, in Rock Haven Nursing Home in Nacogdoches.

Graveside service was held Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019, in Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin with the Reverend David Cozart officiating.

Mrs. Simpson was born May 19, 1923, in Wharton to Ben Frankum and Hazel Belle (Trotter) Frankum. She grew up in Reagan and graduated from Reagan High School. She married the love of her life, Don Simpson, on Feb. 5, 1947.

Mrs. Simpson worked as a welder in the shipyards in San Francisco Ca. during WWll on the US fleets, a rancher in Fall’s County and she and her husband had a trucking business. She was a member of the McClanahan Riding Club and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Her religious affiliation was Southern Baptist. She liked going fishing in the Gulf with her brother, enjoyed trips to Lake Travis with her family and loved going to Florida every Thanksgiving for many years to visit her beloved nephew, Will and wife Susan. She loved to visit with family and friends.

Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sister. Her survivors include her sons, Donald Wayne Simpson, and Johnny Lewis Simpson and wife Laura; very close nephew, Wilber Lewis Presley and wife Susan; grandsons, Donald Rick Simpson, Preston Lewis Simpson, Wayne DeVitte Simpson, Christopher Paul Simpson and William Ronnie Simpson; daughter-in-law, Billie Simpson; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Services are under the directions of Adams Funeral Home.
