Bette Frances Bradshaw Goodman

March 23, 1943 - May 10, 2020

Bette Frances Bradshaw Goodman died unexpectedly on May 10, 2020, at Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas. She was born in Marlin, Texas, on March 23, 1943, the daughter of M.V. (Brick) Bradshaw and Lila Mae Steele Bradshaw. Bette worked for the Federal government and retired from the VA Hospital in Marlin as a lead accountant. Bette was an innovator and entrepreneur.  She was a talented seamstress and amazing cook.  Her dream was to open her own cafe and antique store in Marlin.  She was a dedicated and loving mother and very proud of her sons. Her interests included antiques, church activities, cooking, embroidery and reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Adam Lang Goodman, and her long-time friend, Amy Tate.

She is survived by her son, Stephen S. Goodman IV of Ft. Worth, granddaughters Sydney Goodman of California, Jessica and husband Adam Maddox and their children Melody Joy and Clark Adam Maddox of Cleburne, Texas; her daughter-in-law Cheryl Goodman, widow of Adam L. Goodman, and their daughter Addison Goodman of Brigantine, New Jersey; and her brother, Dr. Major (Bill) Bradshaw, and his wife, Susan, of Houston, as well as many cousins and countless friends.

Bette will be remembered for her quick wit, leadership and excellent cooking skills, her love of reading, and her avid love of Dr. Pepper.

The family would like to thank Anita Tate and Steven and Anne Steele for the care and support of Bette over the years.  They would also like to thank the staff of Golden Years Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their service for the past 9 years.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home, 129 Coleman Street, Marlin, TX where there will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, 206 Hwy 147, Marlin, following the graveside service at 11:30.  In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, the family requests gifts be made in Bette’s name to the Marlin Public Library, 400 Oak Street, Marlin, TX 76661 or a charity of your choice.
