Billy Joe Lauderdale

Mr. Billy Joe Lauderdale, 90, of Marlin, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021, in Waco. 

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin with Reverend David Cozart officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2021, at Adams Funeral Home.

Billy was born on March 10, 1931, in Marlin, to Bedford and Viola (Webb) Lauderdale.  He was a longtime resident of Marlin.  Billy attended Kosse High School.

He served in the United States Army from 1952- 1954 and then he was in the reserves until 1960.  Billy worked as a building contractor from 1970-1990. He enjoyed working on tractors and purchasing tractors, raising cattle and horses, he had a love for various animals, loved telling jokes, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and family. He will always be remembered with his Dr. Pepper.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mildred Lauderdale, Juanita Woodfil and Dot Guttery.

Survivors include his daughter, Helen Newman and husband Donald of Bruceville; son, Andy Lauderdale and wife Terri of Robinson; grandchildren, Elisha Murry of Robinson, Cody Newman  and wife Stephanie of Diboll, and Devin Lauderdale of Robinson; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Linder and Jenna Harper.
