Bobbie Jean Spikes

Bobbie Jean Mathis Spikes, of Marlin, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at Golden Years Nursing Home on June 26, 2021. Bobbie, who was a very proud and spirit-filled person, will be laid to rest on Tuesday, July 6.  

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the South Union Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Norris Jackson, Pastor/Officiant, Rev. Steve Johnson, Eulogist.  Interment at Falls County Cemetery.  Viewing will be held Monday, July 5, from noon to 6 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home Chapel.  

Bobbie Jean was born on Nov. 24, 1934, to R.J Mathis and Willie Mae (Paul) Mathis. She was the oldest of three children. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Willie Earl Mathis and devoted husband Mr. Jack Spikes. 

Bobbie Jean is survived by one brother, Virgil Mathis of Marlin; two nephews, Willie E. (Tiger) Mathis, Ramon Mathis; one niece, Chereese Smith; a devoted uncle, Charles Paul (Connie) of Marlin; devoted aunts, Hermetta Paul of Marlin/Killeen, Lois June Paul of Houston, and Dorothy Paul of Marlin; a devoted cousin, Eula Alyene Washington Womack of Dallas; and many cousins and friends. 

Bobbie Jean also had many devoted friends and Christian Church members at the Saint John Missionary Baptist Church in Beaumont, under the leadership of the late Rev. O.J. Beasley where she worked in various organizations and dedicated her life to serving the Lord during her tenure in Beaumont.

Bobbie Jean was educated at the Booker T. Washington School in Marlin, TX and graduated with the Class of “52.” She continued her education in Beaumont, receiving an Associate Degree in Business. 

Bobbie who was a very proud and spirit-filled person, will be laid to rest on Tuesday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at the South Union Missionary Baptist Church with  Rev. Norris Jackson, Pastor /Officiant, Rev. Steve Johnson, Eulogist.
