Carol Ann (Schreiber) Martin

Carol Ann (Schreiber) Martin was born in Marlin on June 12, 1940.

She was a graduate of Marlin High School, Class of 1958.  After graduating High School, Carol went to Sam Houston State University, but did not finish.

Carol worked at the Waco Chamber of Commerce in the 1960s and early 1970s.  She then worked as secretary, and events coordinator for the Heart O’ Texas Fair Complex, now called the Extraco Events Center, for 25 years.  Carol thoroughly enjoyed working at the Fair and loved helping out all of the vendors during the Fair.  After leaving the Heart O’ Texas Fair Complex, Carol then worked for Texas Youth Commission as intake personnel and then secretary to the Warden.

Carol then moved to Bryan/College Station in the mid 1990s and worked at Texas A&M University’s Public Policy and Research Institute’s grant office.  Carol helped in writing grants for various projects for the university.  The last place Carol worked was back in Marlin at First United Methodist Church as the church secretary, retiring in August 2021.

Carol was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church, Marlin.  She loved working there, and being able to serve in her church home.  Carol loved animals, spending time with family and friends, and traveling, when she was able.  Carol’s grandsons were her pride and joy, and she loved watching them perform in sports and band competitions.

Carol is survived by a daughter, Traci Carter Woltman and husband Gary of Marlin; a daughter, Carol Martin Scheler and husband Ken of Robinson; grandsons, Eddie and Antony Meier of Robinson; sister-in-law, Denalda (Dee) Hale Schreiber of Palestine, as well as several nieces and nephews.
