Chris J. Mocek

Chris J Mocek of Bremond, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Baylor Scott & White in College Station at the age of 87 years. He was born to Frank and Angeline (Tomczeszyn) Mocek on Aug. 2, 1933 in Bremond. 

Chris attended Bremond High School and then Texas A&M where he received a degree in Agriculture Economics Class of 1956. Upon graduation he served in the Army Reserve.  He began his career by starting in the laboratory at Retzloft Chemical. He worked his way through the company, which later was known as Witco Chemical. He was the Vice President of North & South America of the oilfield and agriculture divisions, Chris retired from Witco Chemical in 1995. He continued his career in the oilfield as a consultant for many years following his retirement. Chris enjoyed returning to Bremond to enjoy ranching.

Chris married the love of his life, Cecilia O’lexy on July 5, 1958, at All Saints Catholic Church in Houston. They have lived in Bremond for the past 23 years previously living in Houston. Chris was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Bremond and Knights of Columbus council #2917 in Houston. 

Chris is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stanley Mocek and Ed Mocek; and sister; Helen Ditta.       

 He is survived by: his loving wife of 62 years, Cecilia Mocek of Bremond; sons, Dwayne Mocek of Houston and Glenn Mocek and wife Sherry of Spring; sister, Frances Pajak of Chicago, Ill.; brother, Leonard Mocek of Houston; grandchildren, Madison Sandlin and husband Lane, and Dylan Mocek; step-grandchildren,Layne Wyatt and wife Melissa, and Jennifer Rushing and husband Kyle; step-great-grandchildren, Peyton Wyatt and Harrison Wyatt; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that will miss him dearly.           

Visitation will be Friday, April 16, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. at Bremond Memorial Funeral Home. Rosary will be Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Mass to follow at 11 a.m. with Father Celso Yu to officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Dylan Mocek, Layne Wyatt, Ronnie Nowak, Chris Kempinski, John Thornton, and TC Lozano.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either St. Mary’s Catholic Church or St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund, 715 N. Main Street, Bremond, TX  76629.
