Cornelius Carl (Duck) Kasner

Cornelius Carl (Duck) Kasner was born October 29, 1928 to Edna and Gus Kasner in Barclay, Texas. Duck graduated from Marlin High School in 1947. He served his country in the United States Army. Duck farmed and ranched all of his life with his brother and later in life his son David. David and Duck were the best of friends and where there was one, the other was usually near. They worked tirelessly tending the cattle, repairing the fences, and planting crops. Duck had a love for the outdoors and was often seen riding his fourwheeler. Duck also enjoyed working in his garden, which was always large enough for anyone who wanted to come pick some fresh vegetables. He married Betty Sue Briggs who preceded him in death in 1980 as well as by his parents, Gus and Edna Kasner, brother Lonnie Kasner, brother and sister-n-law, Gus and Anita Kasner, and brother- in-law Harry Jordan. Duck married Marjorie Ann Williams Smith on September 12, 1983. After working all day Duck could be found, usually asleep, in his recliner. He enjoyed spending time with his; Sugar Babe, Marjorie. Duck and Marjorie loved to go dancing and often went on Saturday nights. The weekends they did not go dancing the grandkids could be found having a slumber party at Granny and Papa’s. He often told people his favorite sound was that of the back door opening and grandkids walking in. Duck loved seeing all of his great-grandchildren and would sit and just laugh watching them play. His words of wisdom were always, “They will get grown one of these days”. He is survived by his wife of 33 wonderful years, Marjorie Kasner, sisters, Lorraine Jordan and Caddie and husband Pat Logan, sister n law, Millie Kasner, son, David and wife Theresa Kasner, daughter Donna and husband Roger Schneider, daughter Kathy and husband Carmen Dingrando, son Alan and wife Alma Smith, daughter Carol and husband Mike Nehring, grandchildren, Randy and Cara Kasner, Marsha and Greg Greenhill, Leanne and Aaron Reisner, Jessica and Brian Lamb, Erin and James Whitley, Christina Schneider, Emilie and Justin Tobias, Michelle and Doug Yates, Lori and Chris Ray, Joseph and Brittany Dingrando, Christopher and Sarah Dingrando, Matthew Dingrando, Susan Williams, Adam Smith, Nathan Smith, Jason Smith, Carla and Ronnie Dodge, Beth and Jeremy Haak, Ryan and Kari Nehring, 29 greatgrandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m on Wednesday, October 19th with a rosary following at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin. Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marlin on Thursday, October 20th at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Celso Yu as celebrant.
