Dimple Sue Williford Welch, age 88 of Marlin died peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 30, 2017. Services will be 11:00 a.m.on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Marlin with Reverend David Thomas and Judge Robert Stem officiating. Burial will be at the Fort Parker Cemetery in Groesbeck. Dimple was born January 7, 1929 in Marlin to Sallie and Sam Williford. She attended Texas Women’s University, Texas Tech University, and The University of Texas where she was a proud Kappa Alpha Theta. She married Jack Welch in 1950 and followed him through his military assignments, career in the Texas Legislature, and illustrious law career. She was a devout Presbyterian and involved in the local church. Dimple was very civic minded and served on several boards in the community. She was instrumental in integrating the Marlin Public Library and served on the board for many years. She served on the Executive Committee of the Texas Democratic Women’s Auxiliary and was a proud “yellow dog Democrat”. Always an avid reader, she was a founding member of the Not So Great Book club. Survivors include sons, Jack Dixon Welch III of Berlin, Germany, William James Welch and wife, Brenda, of Mexia; daughter, Sally Ann Black and husband, Rusty of Marlin; grandchildren, Betsy Burnett and husband, Philip of Mart, Will Butler and fiancé, Peri, of Austin, Rachel Rudloff and husband, Mark of Chilton; great-grandchildren, Allie Ann and Aiden Jack Rudloff, Madeline Sue and William Max Burnett. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Samaritan House 154 Live Oak Marlin, Texas 76661 or the Marlin Public Library 400 Oaks Street Marlin, Texas 76661. Funeral services are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.
