Funeral services for Mrs. Dovie Christell Rogers Perry will be Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, Marlin, Texas.  Viewing will be held Friday at Paul Funeral Chapel from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. Masks will be required for the service as well as social distancing.

Dovie Christell Rogers Perry was born April 26, 1941 to Lemuel and Lucinda Rogers in Shady Grove Community of Kosse, Texas.  She attended school in Kosse and Groesbeck. In 1958 she married the love of her life Rev. L.B. Perry.  They shared 61 fabulous years until his passing on March 25, 2020. Dovie made her final transition from this life on Saturday October 10 at 1:49 a.m. at home surrounded by family. Dovie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Shady Grove Baptist Church.  She was the epitome of a Titus 2 Woman.  She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, and friend, as well as a First Lady.  

She and her husband had their family in Texas and later moved to Hobbs, New Mexico where they raised their children.  She was a member of St John Baptist Church where she very involved in many organized activities such as serving on the Usher Board, she helped with the Youth Department, BTU, Women’s Mission Department, and Kitchen Committee.  She later became First Lady at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Lovington, New Mexico.  She was active in the community and her greatest gift was hospitality.  She always had a kind word and a hot meal for all that visited with her.  She served as room mother for all of her children during school and was active with the PTA. She supported her children in various sporting events.  She worked for Hobbs Municipal School District for 15 years before returning to Texas. She was a member of the Greater Antioch Baptist Church in Stranger, Texas for 31 years and she was an active member until her passing, where she sang in the choir and was the secretary of Sunday School.

She was preceded in death by her spouse Rev. L. B. Perry and two daughters, Emily Ann and Cindy Lou Perry and one son, L.B. Perry, Jr.  Her Parents, and her siblings, Faye Richardson, Lillie Rogers, Gertrude Ross, Robert Rogers, and Frank Rogers

 

She leaves to mourn two sons, Alfred (Joy) Perry, Hobbs, NM, Hubert (Lori) Perry, Hobbs, NM, two daughters Sarah (Nelson) Williams, Hobbs, NM, and Betty Perry, Arlington, TX and two bonus sons, Raymond (Glenda) Johnson, Mission, TX and Jarrod Eno, Kosse, TX,  two  sister in laws, Madie Rogers, Dallas, TX Mattie Carter, Midland, TX, 4 brothers in law,  Robert Perry, Burkburnett, TX, William (LaShell) Perry, Norman, OK, Raymond (Nettie) Perry, Port Arthur, Billy (Rosetta) Perry, Grand Prairie, TX, 15 Grandchildren, Shawna (DuShawn) Hicks, Alfred (Mary Ann) Perry, Candice (Eugene) Hicks, Ladrick (Yvonne) Walker, Nathan Walker, Courtney (Christian) Brown, Kirstin Starling (Oscar Nava), Reagan Perry, Landry Perry and 12 great grand kids, numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

 

Services are entrusted to Paul Funeral Home, Marlin, Texas.
