Eddie “Chompers” Chalmers

Graveside services for Eddie “Chompers” Chalmers, 69, of Angleton, were held on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Ahavath Achim Cemetery with Rabbi Alan Learner officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Eddie passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in Woodville, Texas. He was born February 11,1948 in Marlin, Texas to Travis Chalmers and Loreta Johnson Chalmers. Eddie graduated from Marlin High School and attended Stephen F. Austin State University where he participated in both football and track. He held the position of County Tax Accessor for Tyler County since the late 1990s. Prior to that position, he was the County Tax Accessor for Kerr County. Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Chalmers as well as his father and motherTravis Chalmers and Loreta Johnson Chalmers. He is survived by his loving family including his daughter, Hanna Chalmers; his son, Sam Chalmers, wife, Jill and their three daughters, Masyn, Melanie, and Morgan. He is also survived by his sister, Vicky Parsons and her two children, Yancy Parsons and Cinnamon Balkman. Pallbearers were Yancy Parsons and Travis Parsons. If desired, memorials may be made to the Angleton ISD Education Foundation (1900 N. Downing Rd., Angleton, TX 77515) in his name, honoring the school district that he continued to patronize—where his wife worked for more than 30 years, his children graduated, his granddaughter attends, his daughter and daughter-in-law work, where Eddie and his family have supported for almost 50 years.
