Edgar “Eddie” Henry Stanke Jr.

Edgar “Eddie” Henry Stanke Jr., age 66, of Marlin passed from this life on the Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022, at a Waco hospital.  He was born in Mission on Sept. 17, 1955, to parents Edgar Sr. and Mildred (Moon) Stanke.

Edgar graduated from A.C. Jones High School in Beeville in 1975.  He made a long career as an airplane mechanic starting out at the Beeville Naval Air Station (Chase Field) and then was transferred to Meridian, Miss., where he would work for many years.  Edgar enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as working in his garden.  

He also loved to cook, listen to classical music, read, and talk to new people.  Edgar was a “people person” and never met a stranger.  He had a strong faith in God and attended Columbus Avenue Baptist Church in Waco.  He has lived in Marlin for the past 12 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Mildred.

Edgar leaves behind to cherish his memory his three sisters, Shirley Stanke of Beeville, Loretta Drees and Linda Stanke, both of Temple; he also leaves two brothers, Michael Stanke of Marlin and Darrell Stanke of Temple; nephew, Mark Drees; niece, Kelli Drees; and great-nephews, Nathanial and Joshua Drees are also surviving.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
