Frances Nelle Moden Parten

Frances Nelle Moden Parten passed away Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022.  She went peacefully at the age of 94, just a few weeks short of her 95th birthday.

Frances (Fran) was born Feb. 18, 1927, on a farm near Manor, to Chester W. Nelle and Georgia Kuempel Nelle.  Soon after graduating Manor High School, she married Clayton E. Moden of Kimbro.  Clayton served in the Infantry Division of the US Army during World War II and did not return home after giving the ultimate sacrifice to our country.  They had one son, Clayton Moden Jr.

Frances married Robert (Bob) Parten in 1948 and celebrated over 65 years of marriage.  The had one son, Robert Parten Jr.  In 1979 they moved to Marlin and spent 37 years together after Bob’s retirement, they did not spend much time at home however as they belonged to several travel clubs and explored the country extensively with travel trailer in tow.  Frances was very talented and enjoyed arts and crafts, making quilts, flower gardening, and most of all her beloved seashell creations.  She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.  She will be dearly missed by all friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband(s), and son, Robert Parten Jr.  Survivors include son, Clayton E. Moden, and wife Renee Moden; three grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
