Imogene Michalak Cleary Boyd
Imogene Michalak Cleary Boyd, age 95, passed away Dec. 31, 2019, in Houston.
Funeral services will be at Adams Funeral Hom in Marlin on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020. Visitation will from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Marlin.
Imogene was born in Marlin on March 27, 1924, to Henry Joseph and Lela Radzikowsky Michalak. She graduated Marlin High School in 1941. She worked in the hospitality industry all her life, beginning her career at the well-known Houston’s Restaurant in Marlin, before moving to Houston where she lived all her adult life. “Jean,” as she was known to family and friends, married the late Pat Cleary July 29, 1949. Years later, she and the late Billy Marcus Boyd married June 17, 1991. They celebrated 22 years of marriage together.
Though Jean had no children of her own, each of her nieces and nephews held special places in her heart. She enjoyed watching them grow up and being active in their lives. Jean also enjoyed traveling, the beach, dancing and casino trips.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Rosalee Mary Michalak; brothers, Leland Michalak, Chester Michalak and Henry, “Hank” Michalak; and sister, Ernestine Hansen.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, siblings, Virginia Gherbaz of Houston; J.W. Michalak and wife Barbara of Streetman; Mary Roberts of Houston; Christine Parsons of Marlin; nieces, Elaine McInnis of Houston and Kathy Sartor of Marlin, caregivers to their aunt the past three years; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
