James Barnett Kirkpatrick Sr.

James Barnett Kirkpatrick Sr., 80, of Rosebud, died Friday, May 24, 2019, at his residence. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.  Rev. Judge Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow in Powers Chapel Cemetery near Rosebud.

Mr. Kirkpatrick was born August 9, 1938, in Reagan to Charles and Vera Cotton Kirkpatrick. He grew up in Rosebud and graduated from Rosebud High School. He served in the US Army and the National Guard. He worked for General Motors in Arlington for 33 years. He married Mary Skaggs on Sept. 17, 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kirkpatrick of Rosebud; four sons, James Kirkpatrick Jr. of Euless, Rick Lenz of Houston, Jeff Lenz of Rosebud, and James Lenz of St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter, Betty Diane Avant of Rosebud; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
