James Edward “JE” Cohn, 82, of Whitney, formerly of Marlin, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 in Whitney. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p., Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin with Mr. David Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Mr. Cohn was born on August 17, 1935 in Marlin, Texas to James Edward and Martha (William) Cohn. He married Penny Gray on August 12, 1953 in Mississippi and they celebrated over 44 wonderful years of marriage until her death on December 18, 1997. Mr. Cohn was a hardworking and gentle man; he was an avid golfer, loved to go fishing and hunting but his true love was his grandkids and his dog. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Martha Cohn; daughter, Janet; wife, Penny Cohn and sister, Shirley Tull. Survivors include his sons, Denis Cohn and his wife, Marcia of Whitney and Barry Cohn and his wife, Lisa of Whitney; sisters, Dareatha Neumann and Nelda James and her husband, Danny; 7 grandchildren; 19 grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
