Jerry Dick Spencer was born October 24, 1929 in Otto, Texas to William Wilkens and Annie Jackie Spencer. He graduated from Marlin High School and attended Sam Houston Institute of Technology. While attending Sam Houston he met and married JoAnn Laurie, who passed away September 1985. He later married Jean Bell of Ada, Oklahoma who passed away October 2011. He worked as a salesman and radio station manager of KEBE in Jacksonville, Texas. He moved to Ada, Oklahoma to work as a salesman for KADA radio where he became general manager of KADA and KWSH radio station in Wewoka. In 1978 with a partner, he built KASX Radio in Ada, Oklahoma. Later, he became general manager of KWSH in Wewoka, then co-owner of KWSH. After selling KWSH, He and his lovely Jean retired to Mineola, Texas. Where they enjoyed the fishing and socializing with their neighbors at Lake Holbrook. He was preceded in death by his wives, JoAnn and Jean; his parents,William Wilkens and Annie Jackie Spencer; his brother, William Wilkins Spencer, Jr.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Spencer; brother-in-law, Ben Earle Laurie; and granddaughter, Karleene Rene’ Walters. Jerry is survived by his sons, Standlee Spencer (Sherry) of Mineola, Texas, Wayne Spencer (Patti) of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Terry Bell (Sheila) of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Berry Bell (Terry) of Elgin, Illinois; his daughters, Cheri Porterfield from Oklahoma City, and Kerri McCaskill (Keith) from Victoria, Texas; grandchildren, Samuel Spencer from San Diego, California, Samantha Spencer from Oklahoma City, Katherine Elizabeth Spencer from Seminole, Oklahoma, Alexander Spencer from Seminole, Oklahoma, Amanda Payne from Oklahoma City, Kristy Russell from Oklahoma City, Tracy Oliver from Florida, Richard Porterfield from Austin, Texas, Monica Porterfield from Edmond, Oklahoma, Jennifer Bell from Ardmore, Oklahoma, Jamie Bell from Oklahoma City, Adrienne Daniels from Bartlett, Illinois, Brooke Bell from Indy, Indiana, Eric Bell Chicago, Illinois, Melody Birdsong Austin,Texas, Kelsey McCain, Little Rock, Arkansas, Michelle Rucker Sommerville, Texas and Nicole Mc-Caskill of Duncanville, Texas; nephew, Ronald Spencer (Cathy) from Dripping Springs, Texas; nieces, Sue Boesl (Henry) of Dripping Springs, Texas, Patsy Cofer (Bill) of Sabinal, Texas; 27 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren, the youngest born November 15, 2017. Besides his family, a few of his accomplishments were bowling a 300 game in a Dallas Bowling tournament, making a hole-in-one in a Meridian, Mississippi golf tournament, refereeing basketball, being a radio sports commentator, being active in the Rotary Oklahoma District Governor, calling Bingo games, president of the residents’ association of Autumn Winds Assisted Living, and fishing.
