Jimmy Drews

Jimmy Drews, 74, passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 in Katy, Texas surrounded by his family. Visitation will be Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin, Texas. Funeral Services will take place Friday, February, 21, 2020 at Grace Lutheran Church in Marlin, Texas.

Jimmy was born on September, 12, 1945 to Edmund Fred Drews and Martha Niemeyer Drews in Marlin, Texas. He graduated from Marlin High School in 1964. Jimmy then attended Sam Houston State for 2 years and then went into the National Guard from 1966 to 1970 when he was honorably discharged. He worked for Safeway Food Stores from 1968 to 1991 retiring in 1991. Jimmy then bought McMillian Meat Market which was renamed to Drews Specialty Meats. He operated his business until 2010 when he retired. Jimmy was involved in volunteer work such as the Falls County Go Texans, The Marlin Men’s Civic Association, and The Grace Lutheran Church. He served many leadership roles. Jimmy liked everything from cooking, fishing, gardening and singing. He enjoyed playing bridge with his friends and was great competitor with whatever he was involved. But most of all he enjoyed being with his grandkids.

Jimmy Drews was preceded in death by parents Edmund and Martha Drews.

He is survived by his daughters, Lezlee Murphy and husband Jason, Lauren Jack and husband Bill; grandchildren, Stephanie Murphy, Drew Murphy, Jordan Murphy and Caitlin Jack; brothers Kenneth Drews and wife Imogene, Roger Drews and wife Maria, Keith Drews and wife Debbie, Duane Drews and wife Sandy; sister Patti Voges and husband Gordon; 6 Nephews and 8 Nieces.

Pallbearers are Chris Drews, Derreck Drews, Josh Drews, Brandon Drews, Jacob Voges and Daniel Drews.

Honorary Pallbearers are Wesley Walker, Bobby Polk, Greg Amber, Ricky Hegefeld Jr., Joe Terry, David Ainsworth and Rodney Smaistrla.
