Katy Ruth (Alford) Null

Katy Ruth (Alford) Null of Austin was born Nov. 16, 1935, in the community of Alto Springs, near Kosse, to Luther and Katie Alford. She graduated from Kosse High School. After working several years at Roppolo Furniture Store in Marlin, Katy went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Waco, then for AT&T in Austin, Chicago and Denver. 

While working a full-time job, Katy earned a BA in Management in 1991 and an MBA in 1995, both from the University of Phoenix.  After more than 30 years with AT&T Katy retired and returned to Austin. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed expanding her vocabulary.

Katy was preceded in death by her only child, Mark Null; her parents; two sisters, Elona (Sue) Sharp and Evelyn Vandiver; her brother, Framon Alford; nephews Louis Vandiver and Bobby Sharp; and great-nephew, Wesley Sharp. 

She is survived by a nephew, Randy Vandiver and wife Normenia of Dallas; her former niece-in-law, Joy Sharp Kelley and husband Horace of Salado; and several great-nephews and nieces.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Kosse Cemetery.
