Leon Breitkreutz
Mr. Leon Breitkreutz of Marlin passed away Saturday, November 10, in Temple, Texas. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Marlin. Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, November 13th, at Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. Leon Breitkreutz was born in Leroy, Texas to Adolf and Ella Breitkreutz. Leon loved his family and served his church in many capacities. Leon served as Chairman of the Board of the Methodist Church as well as teaching Sunday school. He sang in the Choir and served as a song leader. In his early years Leon, his brother and his father had a band called the Swing Time which he was the lead singer as well as played rhythm. Leon served his country in the Army which he told his family “He liked the discipline in the army.” Leon’s next job, in early married life, was working for the Gas Company for 17 years but his true love was the farm. His love grew from the days he helped his father on their farm. Leon served on the board of AMPA (American Milk Producers Association), his love of the dairy farm was well known by his friends and family. Leon worked in agriculture, raising cattle and working on his dairy farm until he retired in 1989.
Leon Breitkreutz was preceded in death by his parents Adolf and Ella Breitkreutz, his brothers Erwin Breitkreutz, Henry Breitkreutz, Harvey Breitkreutz and A.C. Breitkreutz as well as his sister Mae Adams.
Leon Breitkreutz leaves behind his wife Jane Breitkreutz of Marlin, his daughter Phyllis Young and husband Doyle of Round Rock, his daughter Dorothy Glazener and husband Jay of Nolanville, his son Kenneth Breitkreutz and wife Kathy of Woodway. Grandson Kevin Glazener and wife Melissa of Nolanville, grandson Jayson Glazener and wife Wendy Nolanville, grandson Adam Glazener and wife Ashley of Nolanville, grandson Josh Breitkreutz and wife Courtney of West, and his grandson Jared Breitkreutz of Woodway. Leon’s great - great granddaughters include Robyn Cunningham and husband Brandon, Tinley Breitkreutz, Blakely Breitkreutz, and Leon’s greatgreat grandsons include Brandon Henderson, Garrett Glazener, Landon Glazener, Slayde Belicek, Nash Glazener, and Lane Breitkreutz. Leon has two great-great-great granddaughters Bailey Cunningham and Kennedy Cunningham, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
