Louis Hegefeld

Mr. Louis Charles Hegefeld, 87 of Marlin, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in Marlin. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17th, at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin with Reverend William Wright officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 16th, at Adams Funeral Home.

Louis was born on March 30, 1931 to Charlie and Olga (Ewert) Hegefeld in Marlin, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Marlin. He married the love of his life, Ima Jean Carpenter, on February 14, 1963 in Dallas County. They celebrated 53 years of marriage together. Louis worked for the Marlin Fire Department for 28 years. He also worked baling hay for the public and then doing tree work. He enjoyed fishing and playing his favorite game dominos and cards.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ima Jean Hegefeld; son, Dennis Carpenter. brother, Albert Hegefeld; sister, Freida Kroll.

Survivors include his sons, Ricky Hegefeld, Sr. and wife, Oralee of Marlin, and Danny Hegefeld and wife, Diane of Lorena; grandchildren: Dana and Justin Overcast, Tammy and Dr. Barry Shefa, Dena Hegefeld, Denaie Hegefeld, Dusty and Cindy Carpenter, Tina Hegefeld, Josh Carpenter, and Ricky and Dr. Wendy Hegefeld; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Ella Mae and Luther Burnett; sister-in-law, Ruth Hegefeld; brother-in-law, Arnold Kroll; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Year for the care and support given to Mr. Hegefeld.
