Marion Price Garrison

Marion Price Garrison, 98, of Marlin, passed away Monday, March 25, in Ft. Worth, Texas. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 30, 2019, at the Stranger Community Church in Stranger, Texas.

Marion graduated from Reagan High School and Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas. She met George Steven Garrison at a USO dance in Port Arthur Texas. They were married June 5th 1942. She was a Teacher in Beaumont, Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico and in Fort Worth Public Schools. Marion so greatly believed in education that she established a college scholarship fund for her all great grandchildren which number 17 and counting. She loved to travel, read, dance, garden, and spend time on her lake.

After retiring from teaching she returned to the Price family farm, which was originally established in 1832 east of Marlin, and became a rancher and farmer. She and George cleared the land and built a retirement home where she held “summer camp” for her grandkids. She taught her grandkids how to fish, shoot snakes, and wrangle chicken and Guinean hens. Marion was still riding her tractor and mowing 5 acres of land into her late 80s.

Marion was very involved in the Stranger Community Church, was on the board and assisted in upkeep of the church and the Stranger cemetery. She was a faithful attendee of the Saturday night services held at Stranger Community Church.

Mrs. Garrison was preceded in death by her parents William A. and Lula Price; her brother William A. Price Jr.; her husband George Steven Garrison and her son Gerald Steven Garrison.

She leaves behind her children Carolyn Anne Black; Thomas Price Garrison and wife Vicki; Robert Allan Garrison and wife Vickie; grandchildren including: James Black and wife Jeanette; Kevin Black and wife Morgan; Stephanie Garrison; Jennifer Garrison; Kimberly Shearer and husband Alan; Martin Garrison and wife Emily; Amy Yeats and husband Jordan; Ryan Garrison; Mallory Garrison and husband Juan Pena; 17 and counting great grandchildren and 8 nieces and nephews.
