Mary “Dee” Thrasher

Mary “Dee” Thrasher, 91, of Rosebud, died Thursday, July 18, 2019, in Jewett. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Rev. Don Fulton officiating. Burial will follow in Powers Chapel Cemetery near Rosebud.

Mrs. Thrasher was born Oct. 2, 1927, in Lott to Charles and Mollie Pomykal Burns Sr. She lived most of her life in the Rosebud area. She married Earl Thrasher Sr. on Dec. 10, 1948. She worked as a Registered Nurse for the Rosebud Hospital, The Marlin VA, and as the school nurse for Rosebud-Lott ISD. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and three brothers.

Survivors include one son, Earl Arlin Thrasher Jr. and wife Delores of La Porte; one daughter, Karen Thrasher Blackman of Jewett; one brother, George  Burns Sr. of Rosebud; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held  from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
