Mary Ann (Caperton) Garrett

Mary Ann (Caperton) Shields Garrett passed away peacefully at her home in Kosse, Texas on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2022, after a brief illness.

Mary Ann was born in Marlin on Dec.r 5, 1932, to Cyde Milton and Cecil Caperton

Mary Ann was much loved for her kind and gentle spirit.  She had an intense love for God, family, friends, and animals.  She enjoyed gardening, watching the local birds, and all of nature.  She could also play a mean round of dominoes and loved all things sweet.

Mary is survived by her beloved husband Gordon; her brother, Bob Caperton and his wife Sandy; her daughters, Barbara Deaton and her husband Michael, and Lou Ann Doggett and her husband James; her son, Warren Shields and his former wife Sheila; her stepchildren, David Garrett and his wife Cindy, Gayle Garrett Allen, Lynn Gregor and her husband David, Lea Garrett and his wife Jamie; her grandchildren, Claire and her husband Anthony Nese, Grady and Wyndie Shields, Mandy and her husband James Robison, Krystal and her husband Nick Manier, Lance and his wife Jessica Garrett, Nycole and her husband Brad Muchow, Kaysee and her husband Joe De Fratus, Jaimye and her husband Brian Plemons, Shaun Allen, Alicia and her husband Ryan Fikes, Megan Greger Dowdel, Seth and his wife Courtney Greger, Rockcey and her husband Garrett Crane, Casey and Haley Garrett; and 24 great-grandchildren.  

A celebration to honor Mary Ann’s life will take place at The Kosse Community Center on Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 1-3 p.m.
