Melvin Ross Lloyd

Melvin Ross Lloyd, age 73, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020 in Kosse, Texas.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church in Kosse, Texas. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. -11 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church.  Interment will follow in the Kosse City Cemetery.

Mr. Lloyd was born in the Alto Springs Community on September 01, 1947, the second son to William Ross Lloyd and Ruby Hester Lloyd.  He was preceded in death by his older brother Weldon Lloyd and is survived by his younger brother James Lloyd.

Mr. Lloyd was a 1965 graduate of Marlin High School and a 1969 graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration.  After his graduation, he was in the Texas National Guard and worked as a loan officer for the Marlin National Bank.  He worked as the Falls County Auditor and then for the State of Texas in the Texas Animal Health Commission.  In his last role before retirement, he worked for the Texas Youth Commission in Marlin.

In 1966, he married Judy K. Jackson of Marlin.  Melvin and Judy have two children, Michael Christopher Lloyd, married to Ann Hawthorne Lloyd and Steven Ross Lloyd, married to Scarlett Lloyd.  Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd have 5 grandchildren, Dustin Lloyd, Sarah Lloyd, Claire Lloyd, Lanie Lloyd, and Emerson Lloyd.  They also have 2 great grandchildren Aryia and Declan Lloyd; 2 step-granddaughters Rae Lynn and Bonnie Swinnea

Melvin retired in 2008 to become a full time rancher in partnership with his younger son Steve.  He enjoyed playing dominoes, cooking barbecue, and frying fish with his many friends.

Services are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home in Marlin, Texas.
