Mr. Truman Ross McMillan, 89, passed away Monday, June 04, 2018 in Marlin, Texas. Family received friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at Adams Funeral Home. Memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at First Baptist Church in Marlin with Reverend Charlie Cruz, Reverend David Harlow, and Reverend Michael Estep officiating. Mr. McMillan was born May 15, 1929 to George and Lou (Ellison) McMillan in Kirk, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Marlin, Texas. Truman married the love of his life, Joyce Read on April 7, 1953 in Mart, Texas. They celebrated 65 years of marriage together. Truman owned and operated McMillan Meat Market for 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, and also served as a deacon. Mr. McMillan was greatly involved in the community of Marlin, Texas. He served as President of the Lion’s Club 1966-1967, Marlin City Councilman 1968-1982, and served as President of the Chamber of Commerce 1985-1986. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lou (Ellison) McMillan; brothers, Eugene McMillan, Grady McMillan, Buddy McMillan, Tommy McMillan, and Bobby McMillan; Sister, Emmet Schlemmer. Survivors include his wife, Joyce McMillan of Marlin, Texas; son, Donnie McMillan of Vancouver, Washington; daughter, Peggy Craft and husband, Brent of Texarkana, Texas. In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Marlin and American Heart Association.
