Rev L.B. Perry Sr.

Graveside services for Rev. Perry will be held, Saturday, April 4, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Shady Grove Cemetery in Kosse, Texas.

Rev. L. B. Perry Sr., age 79, was born on March 28, 1940, in Marlin, to Luther B. and Annie Mae Perry. He departed this life on March 25, 2020, in Kosse.

Rev. Perry joined church at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age where his Pastor was Rev. Humble. He went to school in Kosse and as a young man he met and married the love of his life, Dovie C. Rogers, on Oct. 6, 1958. To the union seven children were born and three preceded him in death.

He was a beloved husband, an awesome father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and a great Man of God, He never met a stranger. He coached many sports for the City of Hobbs Boys Club and he truly was a baseball fan. He moved to Hobbs New Mexico where he was a member of St. John Baptist Church under the late Rev. James Ward. He later was called to the ministry where he became the Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Lovington, N.M.

He worked and retired from Koch Industries and returned to Kosse in 1988 where he became the Pastor of Greater Antioch Baptist Church for 31 years. He served on the City Council for Kosse.

He leaves to mourn his spouse of 61 years, Dovie C. Perry; and two sons, Alfred (Joy) Perry of Hobbs, N.M., and Hubert (Lori) Perry of Hobbs, N.M.; two daughters, Sarah (Nelson) Williams of Hobbs, N.M., and Betty Perry of Arlington; one sister, Mattie Carter of Midland; four brothers, Robert Perry of Burkburnett, William (LaShell) Perry of Norman, Okla., Raymond (Nettie) Perry of Port Arthur, and Billy (Rosetta) Perry of Grand Prairie; 15 grandchildren, Shawna (DuShawn) Hicks, Alfred (Mary Ann) Perry, Candice (Eugene) Hicks, Ladrick (Yvonne) Walker, Nathan Walker, Courtney (Christian) Brown, Kirstin Starling (Oscar Nava), Reagan Perry, and Landry Perry; and 12 great-grandkids; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

Graveside services for Rev. Perry will be held, Saturday, April 4, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Shady Grove Cemetery in Kosse, Texas.

Funeral services will be performed in accordance with CDC requirements for COVID-19 Precautions. Ten (10) or less in attendance during funeral services.
Viewing will be held from 1:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the cemetery.
