Robert Edwin Edwards

August 4, 1937 - January 18, 2021

Robert Edwin Edwards passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021. Bob was  born August 4, 1937 in Port Arthur, Texas.

After graduation from Marlin High  School he attended Texas A& M University and went from there to the University  of Texas School of Law. Bob started his legal career with Lone Star Gas Company  in Dallas, Texas and ended his career with over thirty decades working with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Dallas.

While with the AAFES, Bob created  and directed their worker compensation division for many years until his  retirement in 2005. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved baseball. Bob  was a devoted Texas Rangers fan from their inception. Many fun and memorable  moments were spent at Arlington Stadium with Uncle Bob.

Bob was a dedicated  member and Master Mason of the Grand Lodge of Texas, Hillcrest No. 1318 for  over 50 years, volunteering many hours at Scottish Rite Hospital. Bob was  involved in the family Western Auto business which was established in Marlin in  1940. He was an integral part of the business assisting his father, Joe Edwards, Sr.  and brother Joe M. Edwards, Jr. throughout most of the 75 years of operation.

Bob leaves behind a legacy of quiet generosity and boundless kindness known  only to the recipients of his gestures. He also leaves a large group of loved ones  who will miss Uncle Bob.

He is survived by his wife Susan Mathewson Edwards,  her children Lauren Hartman, Kristen Ehret, Matt Wimpee and Allison Morgason:  his sister in law Dorothy Easley Edwards, Nieces and Nephews; Samuel Edwin  Edwards and wife Georgia , Elisabeth Edwards Buchwald and husband Trip,  Dorothy Edwards Collins and husband Mark, and Brittain Duke Edwards and wife  Jennifer.

Also left to miss him are great nieces and nephews Samuel Edwards,  Britt Buchwald, Barrett Buchwald, Elisabeth Buchwald McMullan, Haley Collins  Thomas, Luke Collins, Hannah Collins Hines, Amanda March, Aaron Ramsdell,  Madison Jo Edwards and Britain Duke Edwards, II as well as 10 great-great nieces  and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Joe Edwards,  his brother Joe Edwards, Jr. and great nephew Robert Alexander Edwards.

Bob  had a lifelong connection to and love of Marlin, TX so memorials may be sent to  The Boys and Girls Club of Falls County, 723 Westwood Drive, Marlin, TX, 76661.
