Ruthie Mae Hesplis-Davis

Homegoing Services for Ruthie Mae Heslip-Davis, 78 of Lott, will be held Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at Goodwill Baptist Church, Lott. Viewing will be held Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home Chapel, Marlin.  Masks and social distancing will be practiced. 

Ruthie was born to Claude and Luevator Heslip in Lott.  She attended A.B. Davis High School and received an Associates degree from McLennan Community College (MCC).  She taught at Early Childhood Pre-school in Lott, Texas; Booker T. Washington Daycare Center in Marlin, Texas and EOAC in Marlin/Waco, TX.  She was a member of Goodwill Baptist Church, where she served as an usher.  

On Jan. 24, 1961, she married Frank F. Davis, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Rodnie Knox and her son, Gerald Killingsworth; and siblings, Walter Buhl, Arby Buhl, Dorothy O’Neal and Donald Heslip.

She is survived by her son, Frank L. Davis (Jennette) of Marlin, and her daughter, LaConya Heslip; three siblings, Claudia Womack of Los Angeles, Calif., Doris Heard of Houston, and Patsy Heslip (Marvis) of Lancaster; grandchildren, Darren Davis, Terrell Lewis, Kawana Copeland, Kamesha Knox, Kafre Johnson, Derek Davis, DeAuntre Davis and Antionette Bradley and a host of other relatives and friends.
