Sam G. Salas entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at his home in Ft. Worth, Tx. Visitation will be held on Friday October 23, 2020 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin, Tx. With a rosary to follow at 2:00 P.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, also in Marlin. Due to COVID-19, the family is asking that all who plan to attend wear a mask and however difficult it might be, to also practice social distancing.

Sam Salas was born in Bryan, Tx. on Wednesday July 20, 1949. He was preceded in death by his father, Primitivo Salas and his right hand man, his Uncle Jesse Gonzalez. Sam is survived by his mother, Sara Tovar of Marlin, son Sam Patrick Salas of Ft. Worth, daughter Andrea and husband Tony Henderson, along with their mother, Carmen Salas, all of Ft. Worth. He is also survived by grandsons Michael Lindsey, Alex Lindsey, Javier Salas, and granddaughter Michelle Lindsey, all of Ft. Worth. He is also survived by his brothers Tom Salas and wife Elaine of Ft. Worth, Alex Primo Salas and wife Anna of Houston, sisters Sara Ramirez and husband Eddie of Waco, Dora Soto and husband Jack of Marlin, Pragedes (Pat) Cantu and husband Jimmy of Marlin, Olivia Swearingen and husband Aaron of Robinson, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Sam worked for the City of Ft. Worth for over 30 years, retiring early enough in time to enjoy life and family.

Sam was a caring and loving individual. He loved life, but most of all his true love was his love for his family. He taught us all how to love by showing us his wonderful love and grace. Sam would never turn down an opportunity to help someone physically or take the time to sit, listen, and encourage. Whether it was staying up all night helping you load a U-hual truck, leveling your house during the hot summer, working on your automobile, or helping you roof your house, Sam was always there. If he had a moment of free time, he would give it to you. Sam loved to bait a hook and cast that line. He also loved, with all of his heart, that brilliant blue star of the Dallas Cowboys. He never turned his back on the Cowboys, like most fans have the tendency to do. The Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers were his teams. And, oh how he enjoyed watching them. He also loved to sit down and listen to a good tune with an ice cold beer. Sam knew how to enjoy life. And enjoy life, he did.

He never missed an opportunity to see a loved one graduate, get married, play in a game, or perform in an event. His undying love for his Mother set an example for the younger generations to follow. You could always expect Sam to show up at Christmas with something special just for his sisters. Simplistic in nature, but always touching their hearts.

His pride and joy were his children, Andrea and Patrick. His grandchildren were the apples of his eye. He hardly ever held a conversation with you without telling you something new and interesting about his grandchildren.

His love and compassion for his Uncle Jess allowed him to make numerous trips from his home in Ft. Worth to his Uncle Jesse‘s home in Waco, just to help him with projects and to take him to his doctor visits in Temple. Those two were inseparable until Uncle Jesse‘s death in February, 2018.

Sam was the perfect “in-law” that anyone could ask for. He treated you like you were his own brother or sister, loving you just the same. A true original, that was Sam Salas.

His memory will live on in our hearts forever. We will always see his smile and hear his soft voice echoing in our minds. Heaven received a mighty fine angel with his passing. Sam was never one that liked to say goodbye after visiting you. So, I guess that it’s OK that we did not have that opportunity this final time. Rest easy at the feet of the Lord, sweet Sam. You are in paradise now.
