Johnnie Elizabeth Hounsel, 98, of Winnie, Texas passed away February 23 at The Arboretum of Winnie surrounded by family, after a battle with Alzheimer’s. Johnnie was born April 15, 1927 to Rosie Brunson of Marlin.
MABEL MAE MERKAL
Mabel Mae Merkal, born on March 17, 1937, in Van Vleck, Texas, passed away on February 6, 2026, at the age of 88. She was the beloved daughter of Fred and Ruby (Peterson) Miller. Mabel graduated from Van Vleck High School in 1955.
BOBBIE NUTT WHITT
Bobbie (Nutt) Whitt was born August 31, 1946 in Marlin, Texas and passed away on February 5, 2026. Bobbie was happily married to her husband Lonnie for 36 years until his death on August 31, 2022.
DORIS JEAN WALTER SCRUGGS
Doris Jean (Walter) Scruggs passed away on January 20, 2026, at age 95. She graduated from Marlin High School and attended Texas State College for Women, now TWU, and The University of North Texas, both in Denton. She married Windell Scruggs December 18, 1949, at Perry Methodist Church, Perry, TX.
