Burn Ban in Effect

(Oct. 6, 2025) – Falls County Judge Jay T. Elliott issued a local disaster declaration Monday due to the threat of wildfires fueled by drought and severe weather conditions. The declaration activates emergency plans and allows for emergency measures to protect lives and property.

In conjunction with the declaration, Judge Elliott ordered an outdoor burn ban across all unincorporated areas of the county, effective immediately and lasting for seven days unless extended by the Commissioners Court.

The ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including in barrels or pits, and the use of torches or cutting tools without proper fire suppression. Exceptions include public safety activities, agricultural burns with permits, and regulated industrial operations.

Violations of the burn ban are classified as a Class C misdemeanor and carry a fine of up to $500.

Officials urge residents to stay informed and exercise caution as dry conditions persist.
