Hats Off To The Rattlesnakes

There was once a story that was told about a family of wayward church members. There was a father and three sons. They were once very active in the church, but now they were all indifferent. The preacher and others had visited them. Everything within reason had been done to restore them, but it was all in vain. One day while working in the field, a large rattlesnake bit John, one of the sons. The doctor was summoned and pronounced his condition as being grave. He observed that about the only thing left was prayer. Immediately the preacher was called. The preacher was asked to pray for John’s recovery. So the preacher did and this was his prayer:

“Oh wise and righteous Father, we thank thee that thou hast in thy wisdom sent this rattlesnake to bite John in order to bring him to his senses.
