How To Beat The Devil

commentary

Just a few years ago, The New York Times ran a story about some unusual events in Inglis, Florida. The town's mayor, Carolyn Risher, took the unprecedented step of issuing a mayoral proclamation banning Satan from the community's city limits.

The restraining order declared: "Be it known from this day forward that Satan, ruler of darkness, giver of evil, destroyer of what is good and just, is not now, nor never again will be a part of this town of Inglis, Florida. Satan is hereby declared powerless, no longer ruling over, nor influencing our citizens."

The article went on to say that the proclamation was printed out and placed on fence post that was staked at all four entrances into town.

Wouldn't it be nice if it were that easy to get rid of the devil? Wouldn't it be nice if it were that easy to strip him of his power?

Peter tell us that Satan stalks about like a roaring lion just seeking whom he may devour. This spiritual enemy has plagued those who seek to follow God since his lies in the Garden of Eden.

But the good thing is, Satan can be defeated. When we take God's word, the Bible and obey it and daily apply it to our lives, the with God's help we can overcome the devil.

James tells us in James 4:7 to "Submit ourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you."

How about it? Will you do it?

John tells us in Revelation 2:10 that when we remain faithful unto death the we will recieve a crown of life.
