It’s just my opinion

Someone asked me to give an opinion on a situation they were having. Before answering I asked clearly if they definitely wanted my opinion, which leads me to this story and it too is just an opinion.

What is an opinion? Are they unique to only some individuals? Expressing their opinions have gotten a lot of people into trouble. We must be doing something wrong if it has gotten so bad that expressing your opinion can cause an uproar.
