While I agree with your basic sentiment about Ms. Bondi’s statement, I slightly disagree with you conclusion.

When I first heard her statement, my reaction was no, hate speech is allowed and has been reaffirmed multiple times by the Supreme Court.

What I disagree with is that you did not believe she did enough of a Mea Culpa the next day. The point is, she did walk it back. Remember she is a politician and all politicians do not like to admit a mistake. Therefore they will try to mitigate their response.

Also remember that Ms. Harmeet Dhilion and another senior assistant attorney on her staff came out the same day affirming that hate speech is protected.

Bottom line is that she did correct herself the next day and two senior assistants came out the same day correcting her miscue.
