Letter to the Editor - January 6

THE MONSTER aka Coronavirus

I am overwhelmed by the unquestionable strength and character of most citizens of the Marlin community. Like many other small towns who rely on the strong efforts of their public servants being on the front-lines during difficult times including this COVID-19 pandemic. I must say, we at the city are encouraged by the overwhelming outpouring of support we have received, and hope to continue to receive during these difficult times. In the past few weeks City hall had to be closed for a “Deep Cleaning” of the facility. Several employees displayed symptoms of illnesses, myself included. I did contract this monster known as “Corona Virus” the force that has sparked fear, frustration and anxiety all around. It has created many distractions, criticism and stressful situations. The media and general opinions of this creature lacks the respect and fear to be given to such a monster.

My first 72 hours was as if I was facing the “Grim Reaper” himself posted at the gates of hell. During my time of quarantine and self-isolation, I managed to pray often and reflect upon if I would be given more time to finish my life missions. By the grace of God, I faced the “Monster” and recovered from a battle that I would not want to wish on my worst enemy. During my epic battle, I was thankful to have received many messages of gratitude, acts of generosity and words of encouragement, and powerful prayers of affirmation of healing for myself and our team of dedicated public servants. For me, this positive energy helped me to personally endure the harsh reality of COVI-19. As for those who hasn’t experienced this monster, I can say for sure that as a community we will be into a long-term fight to defeat this foe. I will personally say with all honesty and respect of this pandemic creature, Do Not! take it lightly.

We must learn and rethink our strategic approaches to this problem. But now, more than ever, we must focus all of our energy on defeating this pandemic creature and the challenges associated with it. Nothing is more important than ensuring the health and safety of our families, communities, and our workforces. So, please practice any and all necessary CDC and established local guidelines to protect your families, yourselves, and others from this virus. This virus will take your life, if it finds a weak spot in your human armor.

Thank you,

Cedric
