Love Conquers All

Several years ago, Jackie Deshanon had a hit song that was titled, "Put A Little Love In Your Heart." The song said, think of your fellow man, lend him a helping hand, put a little love in your heart. What some great advice. God knows how important love is in our lives. In the scriptures,
I Corinthians 13 is known as the chapter of love. And as the Apostle Pauls writes in I Corithians 13:8, it says  "Love never fails." In I Corinthians 13:13, Paul writes, "And now abideth faith, hope and love, these three. But the greatest of these is love." In I John 4, the word "love" is mentioned 27 different times.

There was a story told of a little four year-old little boy whose next door neighbor was an elderly man and he had just lost his wife. As the little boy was playing in his backyard one day, he noticed his neighbor was in his backyard in his lawn chair crying. The little 4 year old walked over to his neighbor's backyard as his mom watched through the kitchen window. The little boy crawled up in the lap of the neighbor and they just sat for a while. That evening when the little boy got home his mother asked him what they talked about. The little boy answered and said, "We didn't talk about anything. I just sit in his lap and help him cry."

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word or even the smallest act of caring. Maybe we all need to follow the advice of the song and put a little love in our hearts.
