Stopping the Culture of Death from Crossing Our Borders

As a mom and now a grandmother, I can’t look at a newborn child—tiny fingers, soft breaths, a life full of promise—without seeing the hand of God. Every baby is a miracle, created with purpose and deserving protection. And every mother deserves compassion and support. That belief isn’t political for me. It’s personal. It’s why I’m proud to live in Texas, the most pro-life state in the nation—a place where we honor both the unborn and the women carrying them. But the culture of death never rests. The proabortion movement never sleeps. If they are relentless in their mission to end life, then we must be relentless in defending it. Out-of-state abortion-pill traffickers are targeting Texas women and trying to undermine our laws—and that is exactly why we must stay vigilant.

During the recent special session, I kept my promise to defend life by passing House Bill 7, one of the strongest pro-life measures in the country. HB 7 stops abortion-inducing drugs from being manufactured or mailed into Texas. It also empowers Texans to hold violators accountable, helping prevent these dangerous drugs from reaching our communities.

The reason this law was necessary is obvious. In blue states like California and New York, abortion providers are using “telehealth appointments” with Texas mothers as little more than a formality—brief phone or video calls conducted solely to approve prescriptions for abortion pills and ship them into our state. These doctors never meet the women in person and never face the consequences of the harm they cause. Yet they think they can dictate what happens in Texas, delivering life-ending drugs into our homes while hiding behind their blue-state politics.

It was deeply troubling— though not surpris-ing— to see a New York judge refuse to recognize a Texas judgment against one of these doctors. Their socalled “abortion shield law” protects providers who break Texas law, ignoring the rights of our citizens and undermining the sovereignty of our state. Let me be clear: New York doctors should not be killing Texas babies or trafficking abortion pills into our communities.

That’s why HB 7 protects both mothers and their unborn children. It stops abortion-pill trafficking at the source, shuts down illegal supply chains, and ensures that women in Texas aren’t coerced, manipulated, or misled by out-ofstate actors who will never face the consequences.

This fight is about more than one case or one state. It’s about defending Texas, upholding the integrity of our laws, and protecting every human life. If New York or other states want to challenge that principle, we will take it all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.

I am—and always will be—100% pro-life. As your representative, I will continue standing for mothers, families, and the unborn. In Texas, we do not answer to New York, California, or any state trying to export its radical abortion agenda. We answer to God, to our families, and to the people we serve.

And as long as I have the honor of representing you, Texas will continue to lead the nation in defending life—boldly, faithfully, and without apology.
