On March 13, 2020, Gov. Greg Abbott issued a Disaster Declaration regarding mitigation efforts under COVID-19.
The state’s unemployment rate dropped to 6.8 percent in January, down a tick from December’s 6.9 percent rate but double the record low of 3.4 percent in May 2019.
Born Maewyn Succat, he changed his name to Patrick, which means “father figure,” when he became a priest.
